CHOCOLATE lovers are being given the chance to win a five-kilogramme Easter egg while boosting a good cause.
Mother-and-daughter team Julie and Katie Watt, of The Tipsy Truffle on Dunbar High Street, are selling off the sweet treat in a prize draw in aid of Dunbar Harbour Trust.
The town’s harbour community was devastated by the fire, which caused substantial damage to the town’s McArthur’s Store, last October.
The building, which dates back to the 18th century, was used by the town’s fishing community as a working base.
Now, a special draw is taking place to help raise funds for the harbour trust.
Eric Robertson, chairman of Dunbar Harbour Trust, described the community response as “incredible”.
He said: “Behind the scenes, there’s been plenty of planning and hard work as we continue progress on rebuilding the McArthur's Store and supporting our local fishermen.
“We love involving local people and businesses in everything we do and are especially grateful to The Tipsy Truffle for their generous support.”
The business, which specialises in artisan chocolates, fudge and other sweet treats, opened its doors nearly four years ago.
During that time, they have been keen to support local good causes and this year decided to commission the near-50cm-tall egg.
The chocolate treat was expertly made by the chocolatiers at James of Arran chocolate factory.
Since then, the giant creation has been carefully transported from the island, off the west coast of Scotland, and survived a rather choppy ferry ride and car journey to get to Dunbar, where it is on display in the shop.
Previously, the business sold a giant chocolate snowman, with money going to support the town’s RNLI.
Now, they are again backing a local cause and Julie said: “We do try to give something back to the community and support a good cause.
“When we saw the fire at McArthur’s Store, we thought that it was really important that this historic landmark gets rebuilt.
“We thought we would just raise some money for that.”

The draw closes at 4pm on Wednesday, April 1, and the winning ticket will be drawn the following day.
