A CELEBRATION of the people who make our county great is back as we today announce the third edition of the East Lothian Courier Community Champion Awards.
Our ceremony last year brought people from all walks of life together as we celebrated the folk who go the extra mile for our great county.
We cannot wait to welcome our local heroes to this year’s ceremony to thank them for all they do – so make sure you tell us who they are!
Robbie Scott, Courier Editor, and chair of the judging panel, said: “Anyone who attended last year’s ceremony in North Berwick, or the inaugural awards, in Haddington, in 2024, will know exactly what I mean when I recall the incredible positivity in the room as we celebrated our brilliant Community Champions.
“We heard some amazing stories – uplifting, emotional and altogether special – encapsulating the strength of community we’re lucky to have in East Lothian.
“We know that there are so many people out there in our towns and villages that deserve to be recognised – so please make sure you nominate them!”
There are 12 categories to choose from this year and we’re now calling on our readers to tell us who you think should be recognised for their work and achievements – make sure you get involved!
The third annual East Lothian Courier Community Champion Awards will be held at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club, Prestonpans, on Wednesday, June 3; the deadline for entries is April 14.
The awards are sponsored by East Coast Buses, Hilton Lodge, PureMalt and Royal Musselburgh Golf Club.

Hilton Lodge care home, Haddington, is sponsoring a new category this year: Senior Community Champion of the Year.
Maria Pritchard, home manager, said: “As sponsors of the Senior Community Champion of the Year, we are looking to celebrate the extraordinary individuals aged 60 and over who continue to make a real difference in the East Lothian community.
“We want to recognise those whose dedication, energy, and kindness bring people together, inspire others, and create a lasting positive impact locally.
“This award is about honouring those whose commitment shows that making a difference has no age limit.”
Ross Turner, managing director at PureMalt, sponsor of the Heart of Gold category, said: “We’re honoured to support the East Lothian Community Champion Awards because they celebrate the quiet heroes who put others first, often without thanks or recognition.
