TORNESS Power Station has been named Scotland's top electricity generator for 2024.
The nuclear power station produced 8.7 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity last year.
The latest data comes from the UK Government’s Digest of UK Energy Statistics (DUKES), released by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Torness accounted for 17 per cent of Scotland’s total electricity generation in 2024, more than any other energy asset.
Torness achieved a 75 per cent load factor in 2024, meaning it operated closer to full capacity than any other generator in Scotland.
To date, the station has produced 298 TWh of electricity since it began operating in 1988, enough to power every home in Scotland for about 29 years.
