Scotrail's new timetable will result in more services for East Lothian commuters, the company says.
There will be additional morning weekday trains from both Dunbar and North Berwick to Edinburgh Waverley, while some evening Edinburgh-Dunbar services will stop at Prestonpans, Longniddry, and Drem, removing a two-hour gap between some services.
In the new timetable, being introduced on December 13, an additional Edinburgh-bound morning service departs Dunbar at 7.41am, calling at East Linton at 7.47am, Drem 7.53am and Prestonpans (8.01am), Wallyford (8.04am) and Musselburgh (8.08am). It will not stop at Longniddry.
Also listed as an "additional service" is the new 8.19am North Berwick to Edinburgh Waverley train, calling at all stations - Drem (8.27am), Longniddry (8.23am), Prestonpans (8.38am), Wallyford (8.41am) and Musselburgh (8.45am) – before reaching the city centre at 8.55am on weekdays.

Currently, Scotrail trains leave North Berwick bound for Edinburgh at 6.06am, 6.39am, 7.18am, 7.52am, 8.46am and 9.19am.
Several evening services departing from Edinburgh to Dunbar will now also stop at Prestonpans, Longniddry and Drem, plugging a gap in services which previously meant a lapse of nearly two hours between trains.
Other services between Edinburgh Waverley and North Berwick and Dunbar will also have revised timings to accommodate cross-border timetable changes by other train operators as part of the East Coast Main Line timetable changes, says Scotrail.
Mark Ilderton, ScotRail service delivery director, said: “Across the network, we’ve made a range of changes to deliver more services, improve capacity where it’s needed most, and to support ongoing investment in the decarbonisation of Scotland’s railway.”
