TRANENT will be lit up for the festive season at a special event later this month, as the community gets together to celebrate the countdown to Christmas.
Lights on the town’s Christmas tree, located beside the war memorial, will be turned on at 5pm on Sunday, November 30.
The Tranent Gala committee will hold the annual draw to select the town's gala queen, consort and court for next summer’s event.
Youth samba band Pulse of the Place will be performing to attendees, keeping everyone in good spirits.
The festive event is organised by Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council.

Lights throughout the town have been generously paid for and installed by Callum Innes, of Callum Innes Electrical, and Ronnie Brown of R M Brown Demolitions, who offered to take over the project last year when previous funding fell through.
To facilitate the switch-on event, a road closure will be in place on Winton Place, from its junction with Church Street to its junction with High Street.
Parking on Winton Place is also suspended in its entirety.
The restrictions are in place between 4.30pm and 6pm.
