SINGER-SONGWRITER Callum Beattie has launched a vodka inspired by his latest album.

The Musselburgh musician has teamed up with his manager Dave Rogers and Scottish drinks company MaverX to create a black vodka named after his upcoming album INDI.

The drink is described as "incredibly smooth" and changes colour when poured over ice.

Mr Beattie said: "I didn’t know much about making spirits but I felt I had plenty of experience in that area on the other side.

"It seemed like a cool thing to do and it is something we fancied getting involved in, but only if it was genuine, not just an endorsement on a bottle.

"We went along and really were part of the whole thing, on taste and look and the whole brand too.

"So it’s genuinely the drink I would want to have myself – I love how it changes colour in the glass with ice.

"And it’s so smooth it’s really good straight too."

Mr Rogers said: "We love creating things, from music to art to clothes to communities to charity projects and connections.

"The opportunity came along to make our own Scottish spirit and it was one of those things we had talked about for years – we have all sorts of crazy ideas for things we can do together outside of music."

Graeme Clark of MaverX said: "This vodka was crafted on Scotland’s east coast, at a specialist small-batch distillery.

"The collaboration process involved Callum and Dave bouncing ideas off each other and working side-by-side with the distillers."
