A MAJOR milestone has been reached at an offshore wind farm.

The installation of the final turbine at the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) site, off the East Lothian coast, was completed in the early hours of Monday, April 7.

The wind farm is set to become fully operational this summer after the remaining commissioning stages are completed.

Covering about 105 square kilometres, the 54-turbine NnG wind farm is projected to generate about 450 megawatts, catering to the electricity needs of 375,000 homes and cutting down 400,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
