AN EAST Lothian manufacturer has integrated its heat battery with an air source heat pump for the first time in Scotland.
Sunamp, based in Macmerry, is the world’s leading manufacturer of heat batteries.
It has now integrated its Thermino xPlus heat battery with Mitsubishi's Ecodan PUZ-WZ series of R290 heat pumps.
This is the first time that a heat battery and heat pump manufactured in Scotland have been designed to work together as a complete system package.
Sunamp said that this would provide "low-carbon, sustainable heating and hot water solutions" for homes.
Following testing at Sunamp’s facility in Macmerry, the company’s Optimino key technology has been developed to ensure "seamless compatibility" between its heat battery and the Mitsubishi heat pump.
Giovanni Calabrese, head of engineering at Sunamp, said: "This is a game-changer for the industry.
"By combining our pioneering heat battery technology with one of Europe’s most widely adopted air to water heat pumps, we’re making it easier than ever for homeowners to transition to a low-carbon future without compromising on hot water output or space.
"It’s the ideal solution for smaller homes with no space for a hot water cylinder which means pumps could not be fitted otherwise."
