A HOTEL which closed its doors at the end of September is on the market for offers over £800,000.

Gifford’s Goblin Ha’ Hotel closed less than six months after opening under new ownership.

Now, the property, which features a bar, restaurant and function room, is up for sale.

The hotel, on the village’s Main Street, is named after the Goblin Ha’ – or Goblin Hall – hidden beneath the nearly-800-year-old Yester Castle nearby.

The business is said to suit "a number of operators due to its multiple revenue streams and potential to capitalise on rural trade or visitors to Scotland”.

It features six bedroom living accommodation, alongside seven en-suite letting rooms and an “attractive” beer garden.

Being marketed by Christie & Co, Gifford is described as “a charming village”, which dates back to the late 17th century.

It is now “a quaint and picturesque area with two hotels, a café, a Post Office and a Co-op”.

According to the marketing material, the business “boasts several attractive features”, including a bar with log fire, modern conservatory restaurant and a function room offering a variety of dining experiences.

The seven letting rooms provide “comfortable accommodation” while the business benefits from “generous owner/staff accommodation, including six bedrooms”.

The material reads: “This is a fantastic opportunity to own an iconic business located in East Lothian.

“Due to its size and prominent location in the village of Gifford, there is great potential to develop and extend the current letting rooms.

“The Goblin Ha' Hotel will appeal to a wide range of operators, from a family-run lifestyle to multi-national groups looking to expand their portfolio.

“A viewing is highly recommend to see the scale and opportunity the Goblin Ha' Hotel has to offer.”
