A FINANCIAL sector leader has returned to his former school to inspire pupils.
Sandy Begbie CBE, chief executive of Scottish Financial Enterprise, visited Musselburgh Grammar School to encourage the next generation to consider careers in financial services.
Mr Begbie, who was recently awarded the Freedom of the City of London for his industry leadership and work on social mobility, spoke to an S3 class about his career and the opportunities available to young people in the financial services sector.

This visit comes after the launch of a new skills hub, getinto.finance, which aims to help Scots understand the careers available in the financial services sector.
The digital platform, backed by Scotland’s colleges and universities, was developed in response to a demand for simple career information and guidance about the financial sector.
Mr Begbie said: "Returning to my former school, I am reminded that our young people are exceptional and, given the opportunity, they will go on to flourish.
"We must harness and inspire the next generation and ensure that they have the skills to continue to grow Scotland’s world-class financial and related professional services industry.
"However, people of all backgrounds are missing out on a rewarding career in the sector because they do not believe they have the skills to succeed.
"getinto.finance challenges this view and encourages young people to learn about our sector and the range of opportunities available."
Jodie Hannan, headteacher at Musselburgh Grammar School, said: "S3 business and foundation apprentice business skills pupils heard from Sandy that, with determination and striving for excellence, there are no barriers to what you can achieve in life.
"Pupils explored the diverse skills needed and pathways available in the financial services growth sector including Fintech and Green Finance.
"There is no doubt that a future in finance is an exciting and rewarding career option.
"Thanks to Sandy and Sara Votta for bringing the various pathways to life with a walk through the recently launched getinto.finance digital skills hub."
