HOUSEHOLDERS have Storm Éowyn to THANK for their lights staying on tomorrow.
For a planned electricity supply outage, due to impact up to 100 homes in North Berwick tomorrow, has been shelved because of Friday's severe weather.
A scheduled 9am-4pm power cut, to allow an upgrade of the local electricity supply network, has been called off at the town's Ferrygate Meadow estate, as engineers are required elsewhere to assess and fix storm damage.
One resident told the Courier: "It's a bit ironic that the worst storm for years has helped us keep our heating and lighting on, but it will be good news for everyone, especially those working from home."
On Friday, Storm Éowyn ripped through the Central Belt of Scotland, including East Lothian, with scores of county homes still without power.

Residents of the Ferrygate estate, built about 10 years ago by Miller Homes, had received letters from Last Mile Asset Management Ltd, on behalf of Last Mile Electricity Ltd network, informing them of the all-day power cut to allow SP Energy Networks to carry out the upgrade.
However, due to employees of SP Energy Networks being redirected to more urgent jobs, the Ferrygate Meadow outage has been postponed.
It is currently unknown when the works will be rescheduled, but householders will be contacted beforehand, according to Last Mile Asset Management Ltd, which confirmed to the Courier the change of scheduled works.
SP Energy Networks has been contacted for comment.
