TEN days of works due to get under way tomorrow in the centre of North Berwick have been postponed due to a "gas escape".
Openreach was due to carry out the work, closing Station Hill with its junctions with Westgate and Pointgarry Road until Tuesday, February 4; a number of parking suspensions, road closures and diversions were due to be in place.
However, SGN engineers have been at Station Road since Sunday due to a gas escape and are saying it is "too early to say how long it will take to complete" repairs.

As a result, the works at Station Hill have been shelved to avoid a "knock-on impact" to traffic in the town centre.
The Openreach works were to roll out a new full fibre network will now be rescheduled to an as-yet-unknown date.
A spokesperson for SGN said: "Our engineers have been on site since Sunday, following reports of a gas escape.
"To ensure everyone's safety whilst we carry out investigations and emergency repairs, three-way temporary traffic lights will be in place.
"At the moment, it's too early to say how long it will take to complete our repairs, but we're aware this is a busy area and will be working as quickly and safely as possible."
A Openreach spokesperson said: "Our contractor was due to carry out work on Station Hill, which was deferred due to emergency works in Station Road by another utility.
"To avoid a knock-on impact on other planned civils work, we’ll return to Station Hill to clear a blocked duct at a later date.
"It’s part of our ongoing rollout of full fibre broadband, which is now available to a third of North Berwick households.
"Across East Lothian, around 64 per cent can upgrade to the new, ultrafast network."
