EAST Lothian has been named among the best places to live in Scotland, according to a new study.
Judges at The Sunday Times ranked the county as the fourth best place in the country.

A range of different data, including crime rates, satisfaction with GPs, waiting times and treatment targets, as well as the number of listed buildings, was used to compile the list.
The average house price was also taken into account, just as Gullane’s Hill Road was named the seventh most expensive street in Scotland.

Na h-Eileanan Siar, Orkney, and Shetland topped the list, with East Lothian and Stirling rounding out the top five.

Last March, The Sunday Times declared that North Berwick was the best town to live in the whole of the UK.
It was picked for its combination of a great high street, a great school, the great outdoors and family-friendly houses.
