DISCUSSIONS surrounding the potential merger of two churches in Haddington are continuing.
It was revealed at the beginning of 2022 that talks were taking place over the potential union of the town’s West Church and St Mary’s Parish Church.
A spokesperson for St Mary’s Parish Church confirmed a co-ordinating group, made up of the ministers, session clerks and three elders from each kirk session, had started its work.
They said: “The task before the group is to prepare the way towards the eventual union of our congregations.
“The members for St Mary’s are Alison McDonald, Rae Goode, Mary McMillan, Stewart Meikle and Shirley Patterson.
“There have been three friendly and positive meetings to date which have been focused on getting to know each other and learning about the worship, life and service of our congregations.”
