AN AREA earmarked for housing will host a picnic and guided nature walks next month. (July)
Plans for as many as 145 new homes on the site of the former Herdmanflat Hospital were revealed last year.
The proposals for housing for older people came on the back of three years of surveys, design work and public consultation.
However, concerns about the plans, which come from East Lothian Council, taking away green space in the centre of Haddington have also been expressed.
Now, Friends of Herdmanflat Hospital are encouraging people to head along on July 14 from noon to 3pm.
A spokesperson for the group said: “We’re throwing a special picnic at Herdmanflat Woodland for our wonderful supporters and community members!
“Besides enjoying a laid-back picnic, we’ve got exciting activities lined up, guided tree walks, and awesome fun for the kids.
“So, pack your picnic basket with your favourite snacks, and don’t forget your outdoor gear for a day of adventure.
“Let’s show Herdmanflat Woodland how much we care!”
