A man who caused alarm while onboard a public service bus by telling passengers he had killed his mother with an axe has been admonished after he stayed out of trouble for three months.
Peter Renton shouted the alarming comments toward members of the public while travelling on the bus between West Barns and Dunbar on June 30, 2022.
Renton, 52, also shouted and swore at passengers during the incident and was soon arrested after the police had been alerted to the situation.
He appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in February where he pleaded guilty to the offence and sentence was deferred for Renton to be of good behaviour
He also admitted to a charge of breaching bail conditions by being outside his home at High Street, North Berwick, between 8pm and 7am on September 29, 2023.
Renton was back in the dock last Tuesday where Sheriff John Cook was told the offender had not come to the attention of the police since being told to stay out of trouble for three months.
Sheriff Cook warned Renton, of Forth Street, North Berwick, of his future behaviour and admonished him on both charges.
