A TRANENT man who brought a knife to a town pub has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Liam Edmond, of Baxters Neuk, was traced to Whispers pub by police officers over an allegation no longer being prosecuted by the courts.
He was asked to go outside to speak with the officers and, during a search, it was found he was in possession of a lock knife located in the bottom of his right trouser leg.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard that, during the incident, Edmond had told officers: “It’s a bushcraft knife and I use it for my work.”
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a knife at High Street, Tranent, on October 18 last year when he appeared at the city court last month.

He returned to the dock for sentencing last Wednesday, where Sheriff Alistair Noble placed him on a social work supervision order for 12 months and sentenced him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the community.
