Plans for a community hub outside the grounds of Tranent FC have been given the go-ahead by East Lothian Council.

The football club outlined plans in January to offer a range of community activities from the former Army Cadet hut next to the club’s Foresters Park home.

The Lowland League side said that the hub would provide a space for sports groups and lunch clubs to meet.

It was also hoped that the hub would increase matchday revenue opportunities by providing an area to sell tea and coffee and offer other matchday hospitality.

The plans have now been approved by East Lothian Council, after the proposals received no objections.

Plans would see the addition of a single-storey, flat-roof extension to the south and west elevation of the building.

The report from the local authority said that the extensions “would not appear as overly prominent or incongruous within their setting”.
