A TEENAGE motorist has been fined and banned from the road after he was caught over the drink-drive limit.

Cole Malcolm was found to be nearly four times the legal limit when he was breathalysed by police officers after his vehicle was stopped on North High Street, Musselburgh.

Malcolm, of the town’s Craighall Drive, provided a breath test reading of 85mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath following his arrest on March 17.

The legal limit is 22mg.

Police also discovered that the 19-yearold was using the vehicle with no valid insurance.

Malcolm appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday, where he admitted both offences.

The Crown also accepted not guilty pleas to him driving without an appropriate licence and to taking the vehicle without the consent of the owner.

Malcolm was fined £420 and banned from driving for 12 months.
