A MUSSELBURGH man has been ordered to stay out of trouble until he is sentenced later this year.

Scott Hutchison, of Ashgrove Place, was arrested on a matter no longer being prosecuted and, while being taken to St Leonard’s Police Station in the back of a police van, he behaved in a threatening manner towards officers.

Hutchison, 41, was aggressive and shouted and swore at the constables before making offensive and derogatory remarks towards them on September 26 last year.

He also issued threats to fight with the officers during the incident and appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month to plead guilty to the offence.

The court was told that the charge was also aggravated by religious prejudice.

Hutchison returned to the Capital court last Tuesday, where Sheriff John Cook said he was further deferring sentence to September 23 for the offender to be of good behaviour.
