Nominations are being sought for hard-working staff at NHS Lothian as part of an awards scheme.

NHS Lothian’s annual Celebrating Success Awards honour staff, in 12 different categories, who have gone over and above in their job, embracing the organisation’s core values of care and compassion, dignity and respect, quality, teamwork, openness, honesty and responsibility.

The prestigious Health Hero Award allows the public across Edinburgh and the Lothians to nominate any healthcare worker who has really made a difference to the life of the person they have cared for.

Last year’s winner was Dr Eleanor Watson, gastroenterologist consultant at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.

Dr Watson was nominated by two patients and was described as “an outstanding consultant who puts person-centred care at the heart of her practice and remembers the small yet important details of her patients’ lives”.

Nominations are now being sought for this year’s awards, with all nominations to be in by Friday (April 12).

Calum Campbell, chief executive of NHS Lothian, said: “The Celebrating Success Awards are about recognising the inspiring and truly amazing work that takes place every day across NHS Lothian.

“It’s especially important to honour those members of staff that go that extra mile during these difficult times.

“I hope the public will help bring these amazing examples of healthcare to light and make a staff member or team’s day.”
