FOCAL points of reflection will be created throughout East Lothian as part of a response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Remembering Together is a national project by the Scottish Government and Greenspace Scotland in response to the pandemic.

The next stage is to commission an artist or artists to create a focal point of reflection for the Covid community memorial project in all six of the area partnerships throughout the county.

A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said: “These will be selected for their relevance and sensitivity to the project themes, reflective of the outcomes from the consultation activities undertaken in phase one with local communities, minimal intervention into the landscape, use of natural sustainable materials, low maintenance and low impact on the environment.”

In the first phase, lead artists explored with local communities who, what and how people would like to reflect on their experiences of Covid.

In the second phase, walking trails throughout each of the areas were identified.

The project is being managed in East Lothian by the council’s arts service, and is being developed by Barbara Gardner-Rowell and Sophie Ferguson.
