A number of people have been arrested for drink driving in East Lothian this week according to police.

Police Scotland has warned people of the dangers of drink driving following these arrests.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “After a number arrests for drink driving in East Lothian this week, we are reminding people that just one drink can put you over the drink drive limit in Scotland.

“Everyone processes alcohol at different speeds and there is no "safe" volume of alcohol you can drink and still be suitable to drive. It's harder to process information when under the influence and your reaction times will be slower.

“Also remember you can still be over the drink drive limit in the morning after having alcohol the night before.

“If you are caught drink driving you risk receiving points on your licence, a fine, a driving ban and even jail time.

“If you are in any doubt about whether you are safe to drive or not, don't risk it.”
