School pupils from Preston Tower Primary School and St Gabriel's R.C Primary School have been celebrating meeting in person after months of writing to one another as pen pals.

The children have been pen pals through Prestonpans Library class visits finally mt up with one another to build Lego challenges at St Gabriel's R.C Primary School last week.

The P7 pupils are being supported as part of their transition journey to Preston Lodge High School in the coming years, with P7 pupils also benefiting from the initiative.

An East Lothian Libraries spokesperson said: “The children have been pen pals through Prestonpans Library class visits and after months of letters to one another they finally got to meet and build Lego challenges at St Gabriel's R.C Primary School.

“We all hope this connection between both schools will support children with their transition before heading off to Preston Lodge in the next coming years.

“We can't wait for the next one!”
