A TRANENT man has appeared in court from custody after he admitted to three separate offences, including acting in a threatening manner towards his own father.

Scott MacDonald, of Lammermuir Terrace, was first involved in an incident near his home where he acted aggressively and threatened to damage property belonging to another.

He refused to leave the area when asked to do so and uttered threats of violence while brandishing a knife at Raymond Robertson, all on June 3, 2022.

MacDonald was then subsequently arrested by police while in possession of a knife at Tranent High Street on February 1 last year.

The 50-year-old pleaded guilty to both offences in front of Sheriff Gillian Sharp at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on February 23 this year.

He appeared from custody at the city court again on Monday this week to plead guilty to a further offence where he shouted and swore at his 82-year-old father John MacDonald at his home on November 9 last year.

Sheriff Alison Stirling was told that Sheriff Sharp was not available to deal with the sentencing and deferred all matters to call in front of Sheriff Sharp on April 18. MacDonald was bailed.
