MOTORISTS have once again been warned that they are facing a fine if they ignore restrictions on streets near Haddington primary schools.

Community police officers have repeatedly highlighted the restrictions, which are in place on the town’s Victoria Road, Neilson Park Road and Wemyss Place.

But they have again taken to social media to warn drivers they face a fine if the restrictions near Haddington Primary School and St Mary’s RC Primary School are breached.

Motorists, with the exception of residents with permits and emergency vehicles, are not allowed on the streets between 8.30am and 9.30am, and 3pm to 4pm Monday to Thursday during term time. In addition, they are also not allowed on the streets 8.30-9.30am and 11.45am-12.45pm on Fridays during school term time.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Haddington community officers have been made aware that people are still continuing to drive down Victoria Road and Neilson Park Road when restrictions are in place – the flashing lights indicate when the restrictions are in place.

“The restrictions are there to keep children safe whilst walking to and from school. Officers will be patrolling the areas and issuing fines to offending drivers.”
