A COUNTY resident who was found guilty of assaulting a man on two occasions, and acting in an aggressive manner, has been handed a non-harassment order.

Derek Douglas restrained Michael Douglas against a wall and threatened to stab him when the pair clashed at Henderson Gardens, Edinburgh, in 2021.

Douglas, 36, also repeatedly shouted, swore, acted in an aggressive manner and uttered threats of violence towards the man during the attack on June 13, 2021.

Douglas then assaulted the same man by pushing and restraining him against a wall and punching him to the head at an address at Cables Wynd House, Leith, two days later.

He also shouted, swore and acted aggressively towards Mr Douglas on the same occasion.

Douglas, of Dury Way, Wallyford, denied all the allegations but was found guilty following a trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month.

Sentence had been deferred for reports and Douglas returned to the dock to be sentenced last Monday.

Sheriff Douglas Keir deferred sentence for the accused man to be of good behaviour and ordered a supplementary report to be prepared for the next hearing.

Sheriff Keir also issued Douglas with a 12-month non-harassment order banning him from having any contact with Michael Douglas in any way.
