A TRANENT man headbutted a five-a-side football opponent following a bad tackle, Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told last week.
Christopher Beck, of Muirside Drive, was involved in the tackle with Josh Inglis last June and, after the players confronted each other, Beck struck the man with his head.
The court was told that the victim was left with a gash above his left eye that was bleeding and the incident, at the Powerleague complex at Portobello in Edinburgh, was caught on CCTV.
Beck pleaded guilty to the amended assault charge when he appeared at the Capital court last Tuesday.
An allegation of him stamping on Mr Inglis’s legs during the incident was dropped by prosecutors.
Sheriff Alison Stirling fined 44-year-old Beck £580.
Beck admitted assaulting Mr Inglis by butting him to the head at Westbank Street, Edinburgh, on June 28 last year.
