ONE student will have the opportunity to secure a fully-funded place at the Chippendale International School of Furniture's woodworking course.

The school, north of Gifford, is launching a 10-week woodworking course.

The new course, designed to enhance woodworking skills, starts in October and offers students the opportunity to work in a group of eight under three experienced tutors.

The programme bridges the gap between the school’s existing four-week intermediate course and the intensive 30-week professional course.

Tom Fraser, Chippendale School principal, said: "It’s exciting to see the evolution of our short courses, tailored to meet the changing needs of our students.

"We’re thrilled to provide a stepping stone for one budding woodworking enthusiast to kickstart their journey with us on the new 10-week course.

"We can’t wait to see all our students grow their confidence and furniture-making skills on this course."

Interested candidates under 30 years old and living in Scotland can apply for the course funding online before April 30.

Tim Wheeldon, who completed the four-week course and is now signed up for the 10-week programme, said: "I signed up for a four-week course at Chippendale School, having heard good reports of the longer 30-week course.

"At the time, I wasn’t ready to make such a big commitment.

"The 10-week course feels like the natural next step.

"What stood out to me was the excellent tutor/student ratio, and the quality, responsiveness and flexibility of the teaching."
