A BASEMENT currently being used as a garden storage area could be transformed into a one-bedroom property.
The building on Dunbar’s High Street could be given a new life under plans lodged with East Lothian Council.
The basement of the building is currently used as a garden store and divided into four separate areas.
Now, Kate Darrah is keen to change the space into a one-bedroom property, complete with kitchen, lounge and bathroom.
A design and access statement notes that the building dates back to the late 18th century.
The statement says: “The site is currently used for storage and is at risk of deterioration with the existing doors and windows becoming run down.
“The site lies in an area off High Street which is primarily flats accessed via vennels and stairwells that are behind or above the shops of the street.
“The proposals would not be adding anything untoward or out of keeping with vernacular of the area.”
