A TRANENT man carried out a campaign of abusive behaviour towards his partner over an eight-month period, a court heard.

Joel John repeatedly acted in an aggressive manner towards the woman by making offensive and derogatory remarks at an address in Danderhall, Midlothian, and elsewhere.

John, of Sandersons Wynd, also monitored the woman’s movements and her phone use, while he also accused his partner of being unfaithful towards him.

The offences all occurred between December 26, 2021, and August 22, 2022.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to an amended charge of engaging in a course of behaviour abusive of his partner when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday.

Sheriff Roderick Flinn granted John bail and deferred sentence on him to next month for social work reports to be prepared.
