WORK could be carried out to give a better view of a sculpture which has been in place for more than 30 years.

Man With Fish On His Head was created by artist Stan Bonar for the Glasgow Garden Exhibition in 1988.

The life-size sculpture found a home the following year at Seafield Pond, near Belhaven.

The work of art has remained in place but is not easily accessible.

Vegetation has obscured the view of the sculpture, which is part of the John Muir Country Park area managed by East Lothian Council Countryside Rangers.

A spokesperson for the local authority said that there was “a comparatively small window” to clear the vegetation because it could not be done during the bird nesting season, which runs from March to August.

They said: “We are aware of the vegetation levels surrounding the sculpture, which require to be cut back to allow for a better view.

“It is hoped that this can be done later in the year, outwith the bird nesting season when the water is at a safe level for access.”
