A MUSSELBURGH man has been ordered to engage with the local substance misuse team after assaulting his former partner with a flip flop.
Steven Hillhouse, of Goosegreen Crescent, struck the victim to the face with the footwear at Manse Lane in Musselburgh on July 22, 2022.
The matter was reported to the police and, when officers arrived to arrest Hillhouse, he began resisting and struggling with them at the town’s Newbigging.
The 31-year-old admitted the offences at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last June and he was back at court for sentencing following a period of deferral for good behaviour.
Sheriff Kenneth Campbell KC placed Hillhouse on a 12-month social work supervision order and, as part of a conduct requirement, he must also engage with the substance misuse team
