AN AWARD-WINNING robotics company has been praised by East Lothian’s MSP.

Frontier Robotics seeks to revolutionise marine robots’ sensing and autonomous capabilities with minimum hardware and software modifications.

Last year, North Berwick resident Jonatan Scharff Willners, owner of the business, won a Scottish Edge Award of £100,000.

Frontier Robotics also delivered an interactive exhibition at the Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus’ CleanTech exhibition, which was held in Dubai during COP28.

Paul McLennan, East Lothian MSP, visited the business and spoke with the owner.

He said: “It was fantastic to meet with Jonatan and to learn about the development of this exciting new East Lothian business.

“I was very impressed by the highly sophisticated technology that will revolutionise underwater exploration.

“I really enjoyed hearing about how the Scottish EDGE Award is being used, and how the innovative robots will contribute to the Scottish Government’s commitment to reaching net zero by 2045.

“I wish Jonatan and the freshly expanded Frontier Robotics team continued success and look forward to seeing how their system redefines underwater inspection.”
