PRESTON Lodge have been crowned National League Division Three champions after victory over Orkney.

The Prestonpans side knew a bonus point win of any kind would just about be enough to see them win the league and seal an immediate return to National League Division Two.

And they did it in impressive fashion as they secured a 51-12 win over nearest challengers Orkney at the Pennypit.

On a day when many eyes were on the clash between Wales and Scotland in the Six Nations, Preston Lodge had their own massive game to contend with.

The club's only defeat this season came in Orkney and yesterday's long-travelled visitors still had their own hopes of derailing Preston Lodge's title charge.

Victory in East Lothian and wins in their games in hand would have seen them leapfrog the county side at the top of the table.

Instead, first half tries from Fraser Falgate, Scott Brown and Blair Robertson ensured the hosts had one hand on the trophy at the interval.

Leading 27-12 at the break, PL would go on to extend their advantage.

Further tries from Robertson, Andrew Horne and Allan Whittingham wrapped up the win for Preston Lodge before celebrations started on and off the pitch.
