SLICES of pizza, hot filled rolls and pies could soon be on the menu at a village newsagent.

Longniddry Village Shop on the village’s Kitchener Crescent changed hands just over a year ago.

Now, the owners are looking at making changes including the “modernisation” of the way food is stored at the premises.

Also included in the changes is an increase in deli food offerings.

A statement included with Falcon Singh Properties Ltd’s application to East Lothian Council notes: “Garden City changed ownership at the end of 2022.

“The new proprietors have spent their first year in business engaging with the shop's new and old customers to see what the best service is that they can provide to the community.

“The shop itself hasn’t had much upgrade in the last 10 years, with some of the equipment becoming outdated.

“The approach is to give the internal of the shop a much-needed upgrade and to expand its deli offering.

“With this in mind, there is a need to modernise the existing food storage and food preparation areas.”

Among the proposed hot food offerings at the business, which dates back to the First World War, are hot filled rolls, a variety of soups, pizza slices and hot filled pies.
