POTENTIALLY life-saving devices have been approved for two sites in Gifford.

Retrospective planning permission has been given for a defibrillator cabinet outside Yester Primary School while East Lothian Council also approved an application from Gifford Community Council for a defibrillator cabinet at Gifford Bowling Club.

The device uses an electric charge or current to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat.

If the heart rhythm stops due to cardiac arrest, a defibrillator may help it start beating again.

No objections were received to either planning application.
