A MAN assaulted a police officer by striking him to the head during an incident in Tranent.
Bradley Colborne lashed out at PC Owen Findlay after being stopped and arrested on suspicion of an alleged drug offence at Winton Place on June 7 last year.
Colborne, 21, pleaded guilty to the assault on the officer when he appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Monday.
He had not guilty pleas accepted by the Crown to possessing a quantity of cannabis and to attempting to run away from police officers on the same date.
The court heard that Colborne, of Hoprig Avenue, Blindwells, was under the conditions of a previously imposed community payback order for an assault on a man in Tranent in 2022.
Sheriff Christopher Dickson revoked the previous order in light of the new offence and remanded Colborne in custody pending sentencing on February 8.
