A BID to transform part of a vehicle repair business into a nursery has been given the green light.

No objections were sent to East Lothian Council regarding the plans for the building at the corner of Haddington’s Hospital Road and Hopetoun Drive.

Had Fab Executive Pension Scheme, which is behind the plans, was given the go-ahead for the part-retrospective application to change part of the building into two offices and a nursery – the latter will be let to Grow Together on a long-term basis.

The planning officer noted that there had been no objections or letters of support for the application.

Documents included with the application noted that children up to the age of six could attend the facility.

A design and access statement noted there were no plans to alter the outside of the building; the development “would extend solely to changing the use of the existing administration rooms within the garage”.

It reads: “The company will provide a service for children and their families from zero months to six years, with classes such as sensory play, messy play and baby massage.”
