A MUSSELBURGH man is facing a prison sentence after admitting to charges of assaulting a man with a knife and spitting blood at a police officer.
Ross McLeod attacked Ben Cymber by repeatedly punching him on the head and body during an incident at Davids Way in Haddington.
McLeod also struck his victim on the body with a knife on September 20 last year.
The 27-year-old was subsequently arrested after police had been notified of the attack.
During the arrest procedure at nearby Hamilton Avenue, McLeod assaulted PC Alan Clark by spitting blood at him.
McLeod, c/o HMP Edinburgh, appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to both offences.
Co-accused Zach Baker, 24, of Stoneybank Terrace, had a not guilty plea accepted by prosecutors to being involved in the assault on Mr Cymber.
Sheriff Alistair Noble remanded McLeod in custody and deferred sentence to Tuesday.
