Plans are being put in motion to create a new green space at Foresters Park, thanks to the Tranent Wombles.
The Wombles, a voluntary group which carries out litterpicking in the town, has already created a small green space on Lindores Drive known as Pollinator Parklet.
Now funding has been secured from the Tyne and Esk Rural Communities Development Fund to create a small forest garden at Foresters Park.
Named the Green Belters project, work is already under way to cut and roll turf for the garden, which is hoped to be completed later this year.
It is expected that the area will feature plants and other greenery, making it a space which the whole community will be able to enjoy.
Henry Mathias, chair of Tranent Wombles, said: “As well as litter picking, Tranent Wombles like planting and you may know about the bed and parklet on Lindores Drive.
“The Green Belters project will work with the Heugh Community Garden and East Lothian Play Association (ELPA).”
