A DUNBAR pensioner has been banned from driving after being more than twice the drink-drive limit.
John Murfin was stopped by police while driving on Lamer Street on April 28 last year. It was later discovered that the 77-year-old had 172mg of alcohol in 100ml of urine.
The legal limit is 67mg. Murfin, of Roxburghe Lodge Wynd, pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in September last year.
He returned to the dock for sentencing on Friday, where Sheriff Kenneth Campbell KC banned him from the road for 12 months and also imposed a £420 fine.
