A person has been taken to hospital after a school bus was involved in a collision on its way to Ross High School in Tranent from Pencaitland.

Police say a car and van were also involved in the incident which happened on the A6093 at its junction with the B6371 road to Ormiston at about 8am today.

Pupils on the bus, along with the driver, were uninjured and a replacement bus ensured pupils got to school.

Recovery was arranged for the damaged vehicles which have now been removed.

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “There was an incident this morning outside Ormiston involving a bus transporting young people from Pencaitland to Ross High School.

“Thankfully, the young people and bus driver were unhurt and arrangements were made for another bus to take the pupils to school.

“School staff greeted the young people on arrival to check they were OK and offer support if required.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving a van and a car on the A6093 near the junction with Ormiston Road around 8am on Friday, 12 January.

"One person has been taken to hospital and recovery has been arranged for the vehicles."
