NATIONAL success has led to recognition in the Scottish Parliament for a Haddington business.

Svetlana Kukharchuk, who owns The Cheese Lady on Court Street, clinched the Scottish Business Woman of the Year at the National Business Women’s Awards.

The success in London was then recognised in the Scottish Parliament by South Scotland MSP Craig Hoy.

The former Haddington and Lammermuir ward councillor on East Lothian Council submitted a motion, which was backed by more than 20 colleagues, including Musselburgh MSP Colin Beattie. It reads: “That the Parliament congratulates Svetlana Kukharchuk on winning Scottish Business Woman of the Year at the National Business Women’s Awards 2023; recognises that Ms Kukharchuk opened The Cheese Lady, in Haddington town centre, in 2017, and further recognises that she has also won regional winner for Scotland at the Farm Shop and Deli Retailer Awards in Birmingham.”
