AN OPPORTUNITY to meet new people and have a chat is being offered at The Fraser Centre every Friday.

‘Friendly Fridays’ free drop-in sessions are for anyone who wants to make connections with others or just pop in for a quiet cup of tea in a warm, welcoming space.

Meetings are funded by Fa’side Area Partnership and run every Friday from 9am to 11.30am.

There is a play corner set up with the support of East Lothian Play Association (ELPA), with arts, crafts and games.

Alison Brown, development officer at The Fraser Centre Community Trust, said: “It has been great to see people from different parts of the community enjoying time together no matter their age or how long they have lived in Tranent.

“We have welcomed grandparents and grandkids, older people, working mums, teenagers and, on a number of occasions, had lovely visits from classes from both The Base at Ross High and The Hub at Sanderson’s Wynd.

“There’s often loads of laughter and I love seeing all these connections being made between people that might not have met before.

“I would encourage anyone that is feeling a bit isolated this January to pop along and give it a try.”

The next drop-in takes place tomorrow (Friday) from 9am.
