THE Boots pharmacy on Musselburgh’s North High Street will close next Saturday (January 13).
The national chain, which has more than 2,000 stores across the country, has alerted NHS Lothian to the decision.
The Boots pharmacy on nearby High Street will remain open, where patients can continue to access services and medicines.
Boots has been approached for a comment on the decision and what it will mean for staff at the North High Street branch.
A spokesperson for NHS Lothian said: “We’ve been working closely with Boots, East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership and GP practices to ensure patients are advised of the changes.
“Anyone who receives dosette boxes and serial prescriptions from the North High Street pharmacy should now have been contacted to agree alternative arrangements.
“The majority of patients are transferring to the nearby Boots store but they can choose their preferred pharmacy.”
