A Musselburgh Landscape Artist of the Year competition is set to the launched next year.

It is being planned by organisers of the Open Studio Weekend, which took place in the town in August.

Spokesman Alistair McIntyre, who will be one of the judges, said the competition would take place in May and would be free to enter.

“The location we have in mind for artists of all ages to capture the landscape in their chosen media is Musselburgh harbour,” he said.

“It will have two categories, over 18 and 18 and under. The works will be judged by four Musselburgh artists and the prize will be vouchers for an art shop.”
