TWENTY-SEVEN groups from across East Lothian have received a share of more than £40,000 thanks to Co-op members.
Money has been raised to support local projects by Co-op members swiping or scanning their membership card when buying own-brand products and services.
A total of £40,627.13 is being distributed throughout East Lothian.
Among those benefiting from the funding boost are Dunbar Lifeboat Station, which has received £3,876.11; Girlguiding Dunbar Centenary, receiving £2,539.12; and East Linton and District Community Association, which benefited from a £1,021.31 donation.
Rebecca Birkbeck, director of community and member participation at Co-op, said: “We’re really proud of our Local Community Fund and the impact it’s had supporting thousands of local causes across the UK.
“These groups deliver incredible grassroot projects, enabling them to provide important services, support and activities for their diverse communities.”
