OPENING hours at libraries across East Lothian have been cut due to staff vacancies and the need for savings, East Lothian Council has confirmed.
The changes came into effect on Monday, seeing Dunbar, Haddington and Musselburgh Libraries temporarily close for lunch between Monday and Friday, from 1pm to 2pm each day.
Some smaller libraries across the county already close for lunch at these times, but this now also impacts the libraries in these three towns.
Port Seton and Tranent Libraries will open on alternate Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm, beginning with Tranent Library this Saturday.
An East Lothian Council spokesperson confirmed that this decision would be reviewed on March 31 next year.
