Work to repair the flooring on the Loch Centre’s soft play facility so it can be re-opened is set to take place “in the coming weeks” according to a local councillor.

The soft play has been closed since September 18 after damage was discovered to its floor. An inspection has now been completed and repairs are expected to be carried out soon.

Issues found with the soft play are not related to the current closure of the Loch Centre pool.

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “Following the discovery of damage on the flooring within the soft play area, access was closed to allow for a full inspection.

“Assessment has now been completed and tenders compiled to allow for the repairs to be carried out and the soft play area to reopen as soon as possible.”

Councillor Colin McGinn, East Lothian Council’s cabinet member for community well-being, said he was glad that repair work would be carried out soon.

He said: “I’m aware of many people expressing concern about the temporary closure of this popular attraction for children and am pleased that the essential repair works will be carried out in the coming weeks.”
